How is it OCTOBER already?? I honestly have no idea where this year is going.
Today I've got another Mish Mash challenge for you, and for the first time in weeks not only is this one going up on time but I'm actually scheduling it in advance! Not quite sure where my efficiency came from this week but I'm not complaining.
This week's theme is triangles and I've done a tape mani in a style I've wanted to try for a while because I think they look awesome. What I didn't anticipate was quite how long it would take to apply 9 pieces of tape to each nail, paint over them and remove them, but oh well, the results are worth it!
I started with a gradient (yes, another one, I love them!) of Revlon-Fire, Barry M-Satsuma and Mango and Revlon-Electric because I wanted to get away from the blues that I have been using a lot of recently for one reason or another. Can't get much further away from blue than bright red/orange, right? After I'd done the gradients (and totally forgotten to take a picture of them, much as I intended to) and they'd dried sufficiently, I applied the tape. Normally with tape manis I tape up the nails on one hand and then paint over them and remove, but as there were so many strips per nail with this one I had to do one at a time, which took AGES. I painted over the top with Barry M-Black Multi Glitter.
Here's what I ended up with:
I have to say I love it-it took me so long to do that I was actually fed up of it, but it was worth it in the end. Some of my triangles are slightly wibbly but I still love them. I like the firey colours vs the black overlay too-and not a hint of blue in sight!
Check out the other ladies' fabulous triangle manis in the inlinkz below, and I'll see you soon!

Gorgeous mani! And yup, quite elaborate, my dear! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much =)
DeleteWow these are great! Two tricky techniques in the one mani, big props to you!! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, starting to think I should have spread the two stages over two days, haha. Thank you! =D
DeleteFabulous!! I love the color combo. I love how this came out but not sure I have the patience, lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think it's a mani for special occasions rather than an every day one, haha. Thanks very much =)
Delete'Wibbly' I like that lol.. I'm going to have to remember that word =) I love the colors you chose.. This looks great.
ReplyDeleteThank you =D
DeleteWibbly is an excellent word, haha
I really like this! I like how your gradients are alternated, very nice mani.
ReplyDeleteThankyou very much Amy =)
DeleteAh I love this! I was going to do my triangles like this but I couldnt figure out how to lay the tape and wasnt in the mood for messing around with it haha. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Raquel!
DeleteI found an awesome tutorial for it once but I've NO idea where it was sadly...basically you lay all your horizontal stripes first, then diagonals in one direction (making sure they're parallel to each other) and then finally the diagonals in the other direction, making sure they cross the points where the first two meet. Then you just have to remember which order you laid them in, haha!
Oh I bet this was long with sooo much striping tape to apply and pull off! But it looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much =) It's a good job I didn't have anything to do that day isn't it, haha
DeleteWoooooow!!! This is really super cool! I love the colors you used, those strong orange and red contrast so well with the black polish.
ReplyDeleteThankyou very much =D
DeleteYou have waaaaay more patience than I do! I always talk myself out of manicures like this because I just don't want to do all that darn taping!
ReplyDeleteI might have patience but you clearly have more sanity than me! Haha!
DeleteThis looks fantastic, well done! I love the colours used in the gradient :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much =D
DeleteYou have so much more patience than me! This is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! To tell the truth I did nearly give up half way through but then I would have had uneven hands and that would have been even worse, haha!
DeleteThat's exactly why I am not trying this manicure - takes sooo long. It looks fantastic! though - I like the gradient base.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! It's so intricate, congrats on your patience :)
