Mish Mash Challenge Week 11-Book

I was brainstorming this idea last week with Rara and my boyfriend because I didn't really know what I was going to do for it and Rara came up with the excellent suggestion of The Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy series of books, which I love because they're wonderful. I worked out what I wanted to do and gathered alllll the polishes I needed (there were a lot) and got to work. The base for these was Barry M-Black Multi Glitter which I think is the perfect background for a space themed mani as it has so many pretty sparkles in but without overwhelming the nail art on top. On my poor, sad nubbin I used Rimmel-Serene as Marvin, the clinically depressed robot's face-and actually the nubbin was the perfect size! Happy endings ey?

Right so, nails. On my left hand I've got some space nails, Marvin, Don't Panic (as written in 'large, friendly letters' on the back of the Guide), and a bowl of petunias on the thumb. Left hand has more space nails, 42 (the meaning of 'life, the universe and everything'), a white mouse (because they're running the Earth, secretly, trying to find the ultimate question) and a whale tail because I couldn't fit a whole whale on!

I'll stop blabbering on now and just show you the pics so you can see for yourselves!

I genuinely really love these-it seems that the nails I'm most proud of/love the most are all nerdy but I'm OK with that haha! I think anyone who is a fan of the series (whether that be the books/TV Show/Radio show/Film) will recognise these as H2G2 nails so I'm really happy with them! They make me smile and sometimes that's all you want your nail art to do!

Don't forget to check out the other awesome 'Book' nails in the inlinkz below, and I'll be back soon, hopefully!

OMD! Challenge Day 28-Inspired by a TV Show

Now I know that technically I'm posting this a day early as today's only the 27th but I wanted to do this one more than jewellery. Sadly this will probably be my last OMD! Challenge Mani as I am off to visit a friend next week who doesn't have internet yet so I wanted to end on a good one.
This mani is inspired by my absolute favourite TV show of all time-Red Dwarf. It's probably not something that many people have heard of because even in the UK it's considered pretty cult but I think it's very funny.
I started with a base of Barry M-Black Multiglitter on all my fingers as a background to all my designs. Other polishes I used were: Barry M-Matt White, Navy and Blue Moon, Revlon-Fire, Electric and Blue Lagoon, Rimmel-Azure, Sally Hansen-Going Green and Grass Slipper, plus the Barry M nail art pens in White, Black and Silver.

If you've never seen the show then you probably won't recognise these nails, I'm afraid. I've got some galaxy nails because it takes places entirely in deepest, darkest space, the penguin on my index fingers is a minor character called Mr. Flibble, who is a very evil puppet with hex vision. On my left hand I've got the show's logo, as well as the word 'Smeg Head' which is used throughout the show to replace swearing and on my right I have a 'H' to represent Arnold Rimmer (who is a hologram with a 'H' on his forehead) and on my thumb I've attempted to recreate one of their spaceships-Starbug. Apologies if all of that means nothing to you!

On to the nails:

I really love these-even if they are a little nerdy, haha!
Kinda sad I'm going to miss the end of the OMD! Challenge but I've really enjoyed myself doing it! The new Mish Mash Mani challenge starts next week though (Yay!) so keep an eye out for that instead.

ABC Challenge: W is for Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey

~Pic Heavy Post~

I was discussing this challenge with Rara and said that I didn't really have many good ideas for 'W'. We were chatting about it and she came out with 'Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey' which, for those of you who don't know, is a Doctor Who reference. Part of me knew this was going to be ridiculously hard, but I like a challenge so agreed to give it a try. Apologies to the non Whovians amongst you, this one's going to get nerdy =p

Polishes used: Barry M-Blue Grape (the perfect TARDIS blue!), Revlon-Fire (for the all important bow tie) and the black and white Barry M pens. The 'panels' on the TARDIS were done with a mixture of Blue Grape and Barry M-Black. For the galaxy/space nails I used Rimmel-Midnight Blue for the base and then sponged on Barry M-Matte White, Barry M-Cobalt BlueBarry M-Navy and Barry M-Moondust

From thumb to little finger we have the new Doctor Who logo, number 11's bow tie (because 11 is my Doctor), a space/gradient scene because we all know the Doctor is a mad man in a box who goes flying around in space, Sexy, the type 40 TARDIS and another space scene because I tried to draw a sonic screwdriver and failed. I've done the same on my right hand but changed the thumb to say 'Doctor Who' (because my left hand isn't good at doing straight lines!)

So there we have it, I'm a colossal nerd. A very happy one though, because I'm super pleased with these! If I could never take this mani off I'd still be happy with it-I love it! Sorry if you've never seen/don't like Doctor Who though, they probably won't make much sense to you, but that's OK.

And as a bonus measure, here's a picture of me running away with The Doctor himself (I WISH!):
