ABC Challenge: P is for Purple Phishtail Plaits

So I may have taken a little liberty with the name there ;) Forgive me?

I was going to do penguins originally for this mani but thought they would be too similar to my owls in the end. Also I've been working at my friend's Dad's factory this week and am frankly too exhausted to do anything fancy-so I've done a simple fishtail. I love these manis, they're so effective! Also I apologise for not doing a Try Something Tuesday post this week-the simple fact is that I fell asleep for most of Tuesday night when I got in and therefore didn't do any nail art!

Polishes used were Rimmel-Marshmallow Heaven (pinky-lilacy colour), Rimmel-Purple Addict (shimmery purple loveliness) and Marks and Spencer-Blue (dusky purpley blue). Incidentally it bugs me when people call what are clearly purple polishes 'blue'.
After I'd finished the mani I felt like it was missing something, so I added a layer of Absolut Lacquer-Maybe I'm Crazy to my non-fishtail nails and I think it's really added something magical. It's basically a rainbow glitterbomb in a pot-every colour of glitter imaginable and it's so pretty. It's also the first indie polish I ever bought, so it has a special place in my heart!






It's a really simple mani but I reckon it's really quite pretty too! I just noticed the chip on my middle finger though, boo =(

    Hmmmm, simple? Let's see, fishtail, ombre, and glitter all in one mani.. can't say I agree. Simple, No. Pretty, yes. My manis must bore the heck out of you! LOL!!! ;)

    Jennie Lee - LOL! I was reading..."too exhausted to do anything fancy". I would love to see your fancy if you thing fishtails are easy!! I started to try this once, and changed my mind. Haven't gone back to it yet, but I love the way they look.

      "fancy" in my head is nail art that looks amazing-like when people make little works of art on their nails. I'm quite critical of myself and don't consider that I do "proper" (in my head) nail art because I'm no new to it and don't think I'm much good. Fishtails I can do when I'm watching TV or something because it's just making sure you layer them right! I genuinely didn't realise that people find them hard to master!     Um, fishtail (or phishtail) manis are not simple! I can't do them properly, I end up getting confused about what goes where lol You've done a great job with yours!

      Thanks! The best thing I find is to line your polishes up in front of you and then put one to the back of the line once you've used it, then they're always in the right order lol.

    I have always loved fishtail nails but I'm too scared to make a mess and never have tried to do them! You make it look easy so I hope I gain the courage to finally try!

      Thankyou! Honestly, they're easier than they look! Once you wrap your head around which colour needs to go on next it's just a case of layering them on. Good luck!

    This is soooo pretty. I'm beyond intimidated by the fishtail (add water marbling to that list), and end up with a holy mess.
